LIFE ASCENDING UGANDA (LAU)
Association of Older Persons Ascending in a Christian Mission
LAU advocates for an enabling environment for the elderly to be fully alive in the religious, spiritual and social spheres of life.
The Aging Journey!
The elderly generally have challenges of loneliness, poor health, poverty, low self-esteem and are denied most of their rights. (Margaret Mugeni Atim)
THE GIFT OF AGING
1. The Gift of Years
The gift of years offers a profoundly fresh perspective about aging—one of growth, exploration, fulfillment, and the chance to re-live life.
2. The Gift of Happiness
One of the greatest gifts of aging is the ability to slow down and savor the gift of life.
Freed from the pressures of career advancement and societal expectations, older adults often find that they have more time to connect with loved ones, nurture relationships, and engage in activities that bring them joy.
Aging offers a chance to reclaim a sense of childlike wonder and curiosity, allowing individuals to relive life again with a newfound appreciation for the present moment.
LAU and the Elderly
Life Ascending Uganda (LAU) is an association of the older persons and the elderly. LAU offers them the opportunity to draw closer to God, link with each other, help themselves out of solitude, and refocus on the future with optimism and confidence.

How it all Started
The birth of LAU movement took place on October 4, 2019, during a meeting in Uganda between Tanzanians and Ugandans on a pilgrimage to Namugongo. (Monika Ptak)
LAU and LAI
The LAI’s international meeting held in Santo Domingo in November 2018, with the attendance of observers Margaret Atim Mugeni Winifred and Charles Atim from Uganda, played a pivotal role in bolstering their endeavors to establish an association for pensioners and older individuals in their home country.
